After gaining popularity through her appearance in Bigg Boss 13, Shehnaaz Gill has managed to secure roles in major Bollywood productions such as "Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan" alongside Salman Khan and "100%" featuring John Abraham, Nora Fatehi and Riteish Deshmukh. Despite hailing from Punjab, she recently disclosed that the regional film industry is neglecting her and not extending invitations to her own movie premieres. Following in her footsteps, Sonam Bajwa has also spoken out, stating that she underwent a similar ordeal.

In case you're not familiar, Sonam Bajwa made her foray into the entertainment industry with the Punjabi film "Best Of Luck" in 2013. Since then, she has primarily featured in numerous regional productions, in addition to a handful of appearances in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu films. Her remarkable performance in "Ardab Mutiyaran" earned her the prestigious 'Best Actress' accolade at the PTC Punjabi Film Awards in 2020.

During a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Sonam Bajwa opened up about her own experiences of being ignored by the Punjabi film industry. Responding to Shehnaaz Gill's recent claims, she remarked, "In the industry, when renowned and accomplished celebrities were given priority, I wasn't affected much as I have faced far worse situations. There have been instances where producers would drop me from a project without even informing me. While I have gone through such challenging times, they don't impact me significantly."

In the course of their chat, Sonam Bajwa disclosed that she faced discrimination based on unrealistic beauty standards because she wasn't 'gori chitti' (fair-skinned) enough. She went on to reveal that she was a victim of bullying due to her skin colour during her childhood, with some of her relatives even refusing to invite her over to their homes. Nevertheless, after achieving success in her career, those same relatives reached out to her frequently, but Sonam acknowledges that she has lost both connection and respect for them. Despite this, Sonam has made a commitment to bring about change and not to adopt the same mindset. More power to her!
